Alta-Agricorp is proud to celebrate ten years in the China market in 2011. The Agricorp Company was started in 2001 by Robert Watson and Wu Hairong with the core business being imported semen from Canada. Robert Watson came to China in 1997 working on the China-Canada Dairy Project. The cornerstone of this project was the development of DHI in China and all the people who were involved in this project are proud of the achievements that were made during the project. The Chinese government has continued to invest in the project after 2001 when the project completed and this is proof that the project had met the goals of developing the Chinese dairy industry.

One of the key reasons for establishing Agricorp was to continue to deliver the programs developed under the China-Canada Dairy Project on a commercial basis. The goal of Agricorp has always been to deliver high quality products to the Chinese dairy farms while working with the farms to ensure their long term profitability. During the years 2003 to 2005 it was not possible to import semen from Canada due to a case of mad cow disease. During these two years many of the Agricorp competitors closed their doors in China to reduce costs while they waited for the market to reopen. Agricorp stayed active in the China market to by introducing equipment used on the dairy farms including hoof trimming equipment and calf care equipment. By manufacturing this equipment in China and training the Chinese farms on how to use this equipment, Agricorp maintained a strong relationship with dairy farms in China.
 In 2007, Agricorp sold shares in the company to Alta Genetics based in Alberta Canada to form Alta-Agricorp (Tangshan). The decision to sell shares to Alta Genetics was based on common goals between Alta and Agricorp. Alta Genetics has traditionally focused on providing a high level of service to the most progressive dairy farms in the world. The mission statement for Alta to ‘Create Value – Build Trust – Deliver Results’ to these large dairies matched perfectly with the goals of Agricorp in China. The deal also included the agreement to build production facilities in China and by the end of 2008 the worlds most advanced AI stud was completed in Zunhua City in Tangshan. This bull stud incorporates the latest technologies in the AI industry including disease testing comparable to EU standards, parent verification to prove the accuracy of pedigree information and genomics testing against the US base. 
Alta-Agricorp will continue to introduce the latest and most advanced technologies to the Chinese dairy industry. The genomics technology has revolutionized the dairy industry in North America in the past two years and it is proving to be a perfect technology to move the Chinese industry ahead 50 years in genetic improvement. Our company is proud of the products and services we have provided the Chinese industry over the past ten years and we look forward to continue our leading position for the years to come.

    2007年，艾格威出售公司部分股份给加拿大阿尔伯塔省的亚达遗传公司，建立了亚达艾格威（唐山）畜牧有限公司。出售股份给亚达遗传公司的决策建立在亚达和艾格威之间共同目标的基础上。亚达遗传公司历来专注为世界上最先进的奶牛养殖场提供高水平的服务。亚达遗传公司对这些大型奶牛场做出的使命声明 “创造价值 - 建立诚信 – 递送成效”与艾格威公司的目标完全一致。该协议还包括在中国建立生产设施，在2008年底，世界上最先进的人工授精种牛站在唐山遵化市建成。这个站结合了人工授精业的最新技术，包括相当于欧洲标准的疾病检测、亲子鉴定以验证系谱的准确性、以及以美国数据库为基础的基因组测定。
