The AltaMate / Valuebuilder program is a powerful tool used to:
1Establish the current genetic inventories for the herd,
2 Determine breeding goals for the dairy farm,
3Select bulls that will meet the breeding goals of the dairy farm,
4Limit inbreeding on the farm,
5Determine the value of the semen that is used on the farm,
6Estimate the future genetic inventory of the farm.

The AltaMate/ Valuebuilder software is translated into the Chinese language and has been used by Alta Agricorp over the past three years to ensure that farms achieve their breeding goals. The software has been further adapted for China through the compilation of a database of all sires that have been available in China for the past ten years. Parent averages for these Chinese sires is calculated against the US base which allows for an accurate estimation of breeding values and a higher level of accuracy in the recommended matings and expected future inbreeding. There are over 20,000 cows in the China AltaMate/Valuebuilder program.

This data is compiled in the AltaMate/Valuebuilder program and the following reports are returned to the farm:

1. current and future genetic inventory of the farm

2. Recommended mating sires for each cow in the herd，

Alta Agricorp is committed to expanding this program across China. Regions that purchase minimum quantities of Alta Agricorp semen through the MOA semen tendering program will receive a free copy of the AltaMate/Valuebuilder software as well as training on implementation of the program. Agreement must be reached to return data to Alta Agricorp to verify the integrity of the data and for use in genetic evaluation programs.
